Favourite chargers and alerts
Save the chargers you rely on and hear when one goes down, comes back, or changes price.
3 minute read
Save the chargers you rely on — the one at work, the one at the end of your usual motorway run — and trevl tells you when something changes. For a charger you depend on, knowing it went out of service before you set off is worth more than any amount of clever routing.
Saving a favourite
Tap the star on any charger card in Charge Now. Your favourites appear under My Chargers on the dashboard with their current status. Tap the star again to remove one.
Free accounts can save 5 favourites, Premium 15, and Pro as many as you like.
What you are told about
| Alert | When |
|---|---|
| Out of service | Nothing at the site can charge a car. |
| Some bays out of service | At a site with two or more connectors, fewer than 60% of them are working. A bay with a car on it counts as working. |
| Back in service | A site that was down, or partly down, is working normally again. |
| Price changed | The price per kWh went up or down. |
You choose what each favourite tells you about. Under Account, in Notifications, every favourite has a Status and a Price switch: keep both, or only hear about the charger at work when it breaks, not every time its price moves. New favourites start with both on.
To keep alerts worth reading rather than noise:
- A change has to show up on two checks in a row, a quarter of an hour apart, before we believe it. A feed that hiccups once does not wake you up.
- You hear about the same charger at most once every three hours.
- Status alerts are not sent overnight.
- Status alerts only cover chargers whose operator sends us live status. For the rest we cannot tell when something changes.
- Somebody plugging in is normal operation, not an event, and never triggers an alert.
Getting alerts on your phone
While trevl is open, alerts appear on screen. To get them when it is closed, turn on push notifications:
Open Account
Go to Account and find Notifications.
Enable push notifications
Press Enable and allow notifications when your browser asks. On an iPhone, add trevl to your home screen first: Safari only allows notifications for sites opened from the home screen.
Tapping an alert opens Charge Now on that charger. To stop them, press Disable in the same place.
Notifications blocked?
If Account says notifications are blocked, you declined them at some point and the browser remembers. Allow notifications for trevl.co.uk in your browser’s site settings, then come back and press Enable.
See reading charger status for how we know what state a charger is in.
